HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH
I want to take this opportunity to share with you some of the successful things in our ministry.
A new non-denominational Church was started in 2011, with no official name at the moment but we simply call it Hope (esperança) Community Church. At the moment the little church has an average attendance of 70 people every Sunday. This membership increases every week as the evangelization continues. According to our statistics, children and teenagers are the majority, and they make 70% of our membership.
Like in most churches in Mozambique, the number of women at Esperaça Church is higher than the number of men. Although Most of them cannot speak Portuguese (the official language) they can read their local language (Ronga).
The church is located at the main highway (N1), few kms before Manhiça District, 75km north of Maputo City. The church already has got land property, and humble small temple, built out of reeds and corrugated zincs.
Future plans can be divided into two:
a) Material plans: The church started to produce bricks to build a sanctuary with consistent/conventional material. According to current plan, the building will be 16x8m, and we plan to start building this year. In addition to that, we are planning to acquire public speaking material (sound system) for us to use during the services and/or for evangelism purposes.
b) Spiritual nourishment: in the spiritual arena our priority is to purchase Christian education materials like Bibles (hard copies and/or audio), booklets, hymnals and catechism material.[1] Note that these are the top priority for are newly formed church because we need to evangelize more and also educate the few member we have at the moment. Most of these materials can be purchased locally, but as a newly started church we cannot afford.
The Congregation is currently pastored by Dr. Zefanias Chihulume assisted by Paulo Balango, a spiritually powerful young man devoted to spreading the word of God.

Our hope is that our September Team will be able to start construction on a permanent brick building as well as being able to raise enough funds to purchase Bibles and other study materials. We need approximately $1200.00 to purchase the needed materials.
